WEAVE provides crisis intervention services to women, men and children in Sacramento County who have experienced domestic violence or have been sexually assaulted. It is WEAVE's mission to bring an end to domestic violence and sexual assault in partnership with our community.
At this time we have an immediate position available that will be the primary liaison between the research project and school athletic departments to support a Sacramento region research study that will evaluate the implementation of a school-based dating violence prevention program to reduce young male athlete involvement in disrespectful and harmful behaviors toward women and girls. The ideal candidate should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be comfortable in working with school administrators, understand school policies and procedures, and be comfortable speaking with parents and coaches about the program and research study. This position requires familiarity with the local schools and experience with building and maintaining positive community partnerships. This coordinator will: arrange the timing for all of coaches’ trainings in each of the intervention schools as well as data collection strategies for each school, participate in all trainings alongside the trainer from Family Violence Prevention Fund, and provide the biweekly check-ins with each of the intervention coaches ensuring that coaches are comfortable with delivering the intervention. This position also requires strong knowledge and experience with violence prevention programs, specifically dating abuse and sexual violence education and intervention experience. Responsibilities also involve provide ongoing support to the coaches, athletic directors, and students as needed throughout the course of the project and ensuring that coaches learn about local resources. This person is expected to participate in weekly research team meetings, as well as semi-annual community advisory board meetings. Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year College or university preferred or a minimum of three years related experience and/or training with school-based violence prevention projects is strongly desired. Experience working with culturally diverse clients and bilingual communication skills also a plus.
