OVERVIEW:
The below positions are non-Sacramento Children’s Home positions, they are positions within the Sacramento Children’s Home Family Resource Center and Birth and Beyond program working as service members through AmeriCorps. After successfully completing 11 months of work, AmeriCorps members are eligible for an additional education supplement of up to $4800 that can be used for tuition, student loans, books, etc.
What is an AmeriCorps Member?
AmeriCorps is a government funded community service program designed to help communities meet the specified needs in their area by recruiting and training individuals who are willing to devote one to two years serving in selected community projects.
POSITION:
Home Visitor (2 positions) and FRC Aide (4 positions)
SALARY:
Living Wage of $11.00/hr for 1st Term and $11.50/hr for 2nd Term
SUMMARY:
Home Visitor:
Home Visitor’s work with a multidisciplinary team to provide home and community based support services to families identified at risk for child abuse and neglect. They work with a team, under the direction of the Team Leader, to develop and implement an appropriate individual support plan for each participant in order to meet his/ her needs and provide home visitation services to 15-20 families in any one week, who have children 0-5.
Family Resource Center Aide:
The FRC Aide is responsible for assisting the Family Resources Center Supervisor in coordinating all aspects of the Family Resource Center. The FRC provides group day care, facilitates groups, assists in community outreach, engagement, and referrals, develops and promotes community events and activities, provides case management to FRC families and supports Birth and Beyond Home Visitors on home visits, in addition to serving a small caseload of home visitation clients as well.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bi-Lingual in Spanish and/or Hmong a PLUS!!
Preferred enrolled in an accredited college/university or willingness/desire to attend; AA or BA Degree in a Social Science is highly desired.
One – Two (1-2) years prior experience working in social services, in-home and community settings with overburdened families is preferred.
