The Project Engineer represents Sutter Health for capital improvement projects, including new development, facility expansion, renovation and retrofitting. This position supports the Project Manager or Planner in coordinating, monitoring and reporting on planning, design, and construction activities and may assume a leadership role on smaller, less complex assignments. The Project Engineer acts as a liaison between Sutter Health and external vendors in the administration of consultant and construction agreements. This role supports quality control, maintenance of design and construction schedules, construction management, and owner representative responsibilities. This position is responsible for the completion and monitoring of Project Controls as outlined in the Planning & Delivery Guide (PDG) as well as overall project file maintenance and organization.*Experience** 0-5 years supporting project management in the delivery of construction projects health care facilities preferred and/or completion of a construction management related certificate/degree.* Experience on projects including medical office buildings, acute care general hospitals, outpatient surgery centers and psychiatric hospitals from programming through facility activation desired.*Knowledge** Must be familiar with construction building codes and regulations, space programming and allocation cost analysis, discretionary approval processes, construction means and methods, construction processes and procedures, and contract implementation.* Must be familiar with the State of California building approval processes including OSHPD, the State Fire Marshall and municipal discretionary approvals, as well as TJC regulation.* Must have expertise in project management techniques and software.*Skills** Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as team skills to ensure appropriate communications and coordination across project delivery team, affiliate and vendors.* Strong client relationship management skills to maintain positive relations between FPS and Sutter Health leadership.* Able to manage and delegate tasks. Experience in project management from design through final completion and licensing on hospital projects is required.* Familiarity with project management software and other programs such as Microsoft Word, Access and Excel is preferred.* Education ** AA required or equivalent education/experience* Bachelors Degree in Architecture, Engineering or Const.
